TEST STRENGTHS ARE COMPARED FOR NEW JOINT DESIGNS

In part 4 of this series, procedures were discussed for the preliminary analysis of several new types of forged elbow tubular joints. These new joints for offshore platforms offer better strength to weight ratios than the traditional fabricated joints, and can be manufactured economically. The concluding part 5 describes how several types of cross joints were tested for static tension and compression to give yield factors and joint efficiency.
