ROAD SIGNALIZATION - LIGHTING OF TRAFFIC SIGNS
LA SIGNALISATION ROUTIERE - ECLAIRAGE DES PANNEAUX DE SIGNALISATION
A study is presented of day and night phenomena, considering the two current methods of lighting traffic signs: signs lighted by reflection from external sources and transparent signs in the shape of caissons lighted from the inside. Luminance factors are given in the case of reflective and non-reflective materials for a whole range of colours. Average luminances recommended at night according to two cases of pavement luminance are quoted together with the uniformity limit values of luminance. (TRRL)
