INTERACTION BETWEEN STEEL FIBRES AND CEMENT BASED MATRIXES

The results are presented of a study of different high-bond steel fibres in a cement based matrix subjected to pull out tests. The interaction of fibre bond and properties of the composite material, as well as the "multiple effects" and the "angular effect", is examined. These results are compared with theoretical results. It is concluded that the interaction of steel fibres and a concrete based matrix is mechanically very complex, where very low tensile and shear strength of the matrix becomes a limiting factor when fibre anchorage is increased.
