IMPROVEMENT BY VITRIFICATION OF MINING AND METALLURGIC WASTE

VALORISATION PAR VITRIFICATION DES DECHETS MINIERS ET METALLURGIQUES

The author studies glasses prepared from mineral waste, the vitrification of which leads to a composition similar to that of a glass with a high iron content: the "195". Details are given of the physical and thermal characteristics, applications and new utilizations among which: at the moulded stage, preparation of construction materials such as slabs for facades, slates, ceramics; at the fibrous stage insulation and, because of its strong adhesion to cement, replacement of special glass fibre; in spherular form, porous support in oil drilling, addition to concrete to produce high-strength products retaining a smooth surface.
