VIBRATION FREQUENCIES OF UNIFORM BEAMS WITH LOCALIZED MODIFICATIONS

FRECUENCIAS DE VIBRACION EN VIGAS UNIFORMES CON MODIFICACIONES LOCALIZADAS

A study is made of the free vibration of homogeneous beams with a constant cross section and with different connections at each end; the vibration is produced by a localized modification of stresses. By separating the variables, the author obtains the equations of the vibration frequencies of a beam fixed elastically at one end, in each of three following cases: the other extremity is free; the other extremity is free with a concentrated mass; with a restrained translation movement. The study serves as the basis for approaching other related problems: such as the determination of natural frequencies, obtaining the characteristic modes of vibration or the analysis of the variation of the maximum dynamic tension.
