STUDY OF THE LAW OF THE FRAGMENTATION OF ROCKS BY BLASTING

ISSLEDOVANIE ZAKONOMERNOSTI PROTSESSA DROBLENIYA GORNYKH POROD VZRYVOM

A relationship between the energy spent by the deformation of a rock and its degree of fragmentation when subjected to blasting, is obtained from the minimum specific capacity of energy absorption. An expression is deduced for the degree of crushing. The energy balance equation gives an index of the efficiency of blasting. The degree of crushing and the efficiency index depends on the ratio of the line of minimum resistance to the radius of the charge. The minimum specific capacity of energy absorption is determined for a quartzite containing iron for given blasting conditions. /TRRL/
