INFLUENCE OF THE SOIL-BOUND MASS AND OF NON-LINEAR PROPERTIES ON FOUNDATION VIBRATIONS

It is shown that an approximate solution to the forced vertical vibrations of a foundation can be found with the vibration linear theory if the parameter of limit amplitude is taken into account. This parameter is equal to the moment of unbalanced inertia forces of the machine unit of vibrating mass, foundation frequencies and damping coefficient of the subgrade. It is also shown that the vibrating mass to be used in the calculations depends a great deal on soil inertia which up to now had been neglected. (TRRL)
