CENTRIFUGAL MODEL STUDY OF THE BEARING CAPACITY OF A SATURATED CLAYEY SOIL SUBJECTED TO INCLINED LOAD

Results are given of loading tests, in which the load was applied at 5, 10, 20 and 30 deg. Coefficients of decrease of the bearing capacity of a clayey foundation are given as a function of the inclination of the load applied. A method of evaluating the plastic heterogeneity of a clayey foundation is proposed. Suggestions are put forward to use the results obtained in the calculation of the bearing capacity of this type of soil subjected to inclined loads. (TRRL)
