STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS AND ACCIDENTS - A GLC STUDY

Major sections of principal roads in the greater London area have had street lighting improvements, and this study assesses accident benefits at night which may have resulted from these improvements. Daytime accidents showed no significant changes, but results at twenty-seven test sites have shown that improved levels of street lighting reduced the night time accidents by 15 percent. (TRRL)
