A PROGRAM TO MODEL FLOWS, QUEUES AND DELAYS AT A ROUNDABOUT

The program described in this article covers two main functions: to find the overall capacity of a saturated or partially-saturated roundabout; and to calculate the queues and delays for each entry produced by a given demand profile. Future developments will include the possibility of using the program as a design tool such that, for a proposed set of demand flows, optimal values can be found for the geometric parameters, under prescribed constraints, e.g. Minimisation of total delay.
