COPING WITH WIND SHEAR

The safest response to windshear is to avoid it altogether, but this is not always possible. The phenomenon is now well enough understood for instrument makers to offer detection and indication systems for commercial use. This brief survey, recapitulates basic principles followed by descriptions of systems which are either already commercially available or about to become so in the near future. (Flight International)
