SHIP ARRESTER SYSTEM GUARDS LOCK

The paper reports that a new ship arrester system aimed at preventing vessels colliding with the sea-lock gates in the Manchester Ship Channel has been designed, developed and installed in the United Kingdom. The system was designed to bring a 20,000 ton vessel to a stop within 14 meters from speeds approaching three knots.
