The first ro-ro ships in the large order placed at Mitsui's Chiba yard by the Swedish Brostrom group are now in service. First of the ships to be completed are the 12,000 tonne class "Thebeland" and "Tyrusland" , with the remaining four scheduled to be completed by the end of September; in between will come the 23,000 tonne d.w. ship. This ship has a length o.a. of 165 m, a beam of 25.50 m and a draft (summer) of 7.99 m. It is powered by two 12 cylinder B&W long-stroke L45GF engines developing 10,560 bhp at 170 rpm giving a service speed of 19.5 knots.
