Composite structures were prepared and evaluated for radome applicability. Although the composites provided improvement in broad band transmission characteristics, crosslinked high density polyethylene was superior in that transmission losses are less than 1 dB over the entire band of 1-40 GHz, even with wall thicknesses as high as one-half inch. By use of a relatively new manufacturing process, rotomolding, radomes may be produced at a fraction of the cost of composite hand lay-ups.
