Mapping the Melbourne sharing economy
The sharing economy is becoming a central part of life in Melbourne. However, we are yet to fully understand exactly how big this new sector of the economy is, who is involved in it, or how to properly define it. This study seeks to redress these gaps, establish what is currently known about the sharing economy in Melbourne, and identify opportunities for future research. This report explores the following questions: 1. What is meant by the term ‘sharing economy’? 2. What types of resources are exchanged through the sharing economy in Melbourne? 3. What is known about the scale and diversity of the sharing economy in Melbourne? 4. Who is participating in the sharing economy in Melbourne? 5. What responses and concerns are prompted by the sharing economy in Melbourne?
