This article explores the design rationale and varied aspects of special work vehicles that are used in factories, mines, as well as for lawn mowing and other off-road applications. Mechanical, electric and hydrostatic drives are discussed, and other components such as wheels, brakes, clutches, suspensions, engines and motors are examined in terms of their design, assembly, testing and control.
