LASH QUESTIONS ANSWERED

The Netherlands section of ICHCA recently held a conference in Rotterdam on the LASH system. J.L. Goldman, president of LASH Systems Inc., and E.F. Johnsen, president of Central Gulf Steamship Corp., answered questions and a selection of these is given. The questions concern-cargo damage/ manning requirements/ loading and discharging sequences/ ventilation/ dangerous cargoes/ trim changes during loading/ economic competitiveness/ applicability to developing countries/ port facilities/ and means of moving barges between the water and the ship.
