SOME TWO-DIMENSIONAL PROBLEMS IN FRACTURE MECHANICS
The writer's initiation to fracture mechanics through Dr. G.R. Irwin and his guidance in subsequent developments are illustrated through two-dimensional problems in fracture mechanics. These problems include the M sub K factor for deep surface flaw, Dugdale yield strip for a slanted crack in a tension plate, crack in a stringer reinforced tension plate, crack branching, and crack curving.
