AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON EXTENDED LIFE OF ASPHALT PAVEMENTS BY FOG SEALS

フォグシールによるアスファルト舗装の延命化に関する実験的検討

In this study, in order to clarify the effects of rainwater penetration into the asphalt mixture through the cracks and the effect of coating the fog seals on the asphalt mixture, it was carried out bending fatigue test of asphalt mixture while supplying water drip. From the test result, based on several assumptions, to calculate the prolong the service life of the asphalt mixture due to the effect of fog seals, was estimated life cycle cost of the asphalt pavement in the case of applying a fog seals. Bending fatigue test results of the asphalt mixture to implement while the supply of rain water, showed the following possibilities. Asphalt mixture results in a stress decreased early. When the coating of the fog seals at an appropriate time can improve the fatigue resistance of asphalt mixture. In addition, when the fog seals is applied regular intervals to the asphalt mixture, has been found the possibility of approximately 20% reduction in the life cycle cost of 40 years. 本検討では,ひび割れの発生したアスファルト混合物への雨水浸透の影響,アスファルト混合物へフォグシールを塗布した場合の効果を明らかにするため,水滴を供給しながらのアスファルト混合物の曲げ疲労試験を実施した.また,その試験結果より,いくつかの仮定のもとでフォグシールによるアスファルト舗装の延命効果を定量的に算出し,フォグシールを適用した場合のライフサイクルコストの試算を行った.その結果,水滴を供給しながら曲げ疲労試験を実施するとアスファルト混合物は早期に応力低下すること,フォグシールを適切な時期に施すと疲労抵抗性を改善できること,定期的にフォグシールを行うと40年間のライフサイクルコストを2割縮減できる可能性を示した.
