ROAD DEATHS NOT REGISTERED AS SUCH

NIET GEREGISTREERDE VERKEERSDODEN

Road accident casualties in the Netherlands dying later than 30 days after the accident are not registered as road deaths. This is the result of international agreements to which the Central Bureau of Statistics conforms. The Dutch Institute for Road Safety Research SWOV has made a comparison between the data of the Central Bureau of Statistics and data for the hospitals, in order to estimate the number of "road deaths after 30 days". The result of this comparison is that the number of road accident casualties dying later than 30 days after the accident increases the official number of road deaths of the Central Bureau of Statistics by approximately 3%.
