PUNCH-LOADED SHOTCRETE LININGS ON HARD ROCK

Large scale punch load tests on plane and arch-shaped shotcrete layers interacting with granite blocks are presented. Tests were made on plane unreinforced layers of different thickness. Tests were also made on plane layers with different amounts of reinforcement interacting with rock bolts in different ways. Arch shaped shotcrete layers were tested both with and without end supports. The load-deformation curve for reinforcement bars of different kinds embedded in concrete was investigated. The same kind of tests were made on strips of reinforcement nets embedded in shotcrete. Calculations were made for a rough estimate of the influence on the carrying capacity of a two-dimensional extension of the shotcrete layers. Calculations were also made for rough estimates of the action of reinforced shotcrete interface near a joint at different loadings. A literature survey is presented together with a discussion of shotcrete design. (TRRL)
