Lookout Support System for Small Boat using AIS Information
AIS情報を用いた小型船用見張り支援システム
In order to notify the collision risk to the mariners navigating small boats, authors considered the concept of “lookout support system for small boat (support system)”. The support system consists of own ship data by GPS, other ship data such as AIS information via AIS receiver, algorithm and user interface. To confirm the support system performance, the authors made a prototype of the support system and carried out a series of field tests with 2 boats in 9 encounter situations. One boat was equipped with both Class A and Class B AIS transponders, and another was equipped with the support system. As a result, the support system worked as expected, and was evaluated well by 3 subjects. Finally, the authors analyzed Class B AIS data and confirmed the characteristics of them.
