Study on Temporal Changes in Coverage of Road-Facing Greenery in Residential Plots in the Early Showa Period Developed Ohmino Residential Area, Sakai City

This study investigated changes in coverage of road-facing greenery in residential plots before and after residential renovation during the period of 1974 to 2007 in the Ohmino Residential Area, Sakai City, which was originally developed in the early Showa Period. The results showed that, in 1974, half of the houses in Ohmino Residential Area had an area of more than 300 m2 and green coverage of more than 60%, which created green-rich streetscape. The residential plots which had been subject to renovation for about 30 years had also decreased their green coverage. Some residential areas had been divided into several plots, and they had areas of below 200m2, their green coverage had decreased.
