Cannabis & Road Safety: Policy Challenges

This study identifies issues to be resolved prior to agencies implementing effective policy addressing cannabis-impaired driving. Forty-six stakeholders from law enforcement, transportation, and health agencies across Canada were interviewed to determine these priority issues. The topics discussed included: research, laws and penalties; implementation strategies; public perception and education campaigns; and metrics and evaluation. This document summarizes the key issues raised in the interviews and recommends road safety strategies to reduce cannabis-impaired driving.
