2016 State of Logistics Report : pursue mutual benefit

While it's currently a shippers [sic] market, the authors of this year's report contend that we've entered a "period of transition" that will usher in a realignment of capacity, lower inventories, economic growth and "moderately higher" rates. It's time to tighten the ties that bind. LTL carriers adjusting to "more competitive" pricing environment -- TL carriers hammered on rates in soft, mid-year freight environment -- Volumes, dip, service recovers [rail/intermodal] -- New trade agreements may drive long-term recovery [air cargo] -- Ocean shippers to keep expectations in check -- New value proposition needed [third-party logistics].
