Accelerated Pavement Testing in Slovakia
Highway administrators, engineers, and researchers often face problems for which information already exists, either in documented form or as undocumented experience and practice. Accelerated pavement testing (APT) is one way where researchers can find answers for these problems. Full-scale APT forms a vital link between the laboratory evaluation of materials used in pavement layers and the field behavior of these materials when combined into pavement structures. For many years APT provided pavement engineers with knowledge that improved their understanding of pavement materials and structures, as well as their behavior under typical traffic and environmental loading. It formed the basis for developing various theories about pavement behavior and supports most of the current pavement design methods.
