Seasonal and Time-Trend Variation by Gender of Alcohol-Impaired Drivers at Preventive Sobriety Checkpoints

This study, conducted at sobriety checkpoints in Catalonia, investigates whether there are seasonal variations and time trends in the percentage of alcohol-impaired drivers and, if so, is there an association with gender. The lowest rate of alcohol-impaired driving at the checkpoints is in winter for both men and women; the highest rate is in spring for men and autumn for women.
