Evaluating the Impact of Whole-Body Vibration (WBV) on Fatigue and the Implications for Driver Safety

This report analyzes the results of a literature review on whole-body vibration (WBV) and commercial driver fatigue. Twenty four studies were identified with the majority finding a significant connection between WBV and driver sleepiness. The report also examines the methodologies used in the studies and develops a model for estimating the impact of WBV on fatigue-related crashes. Recommendations are provided for potential additional laboratory studies and research.
