Non-Motorized Transport Integration Into Urban Transport Planning in Africa
This book discusses how most African cities have a large population of low income households who largely depend on non-motorized travel (NMT), in particular walking to get around. The book brings together an analysis of the cities of Cape Town, Dar es Salaam and Nairobi's NMT behavior, planning and institutional frameworks that provide guidelines for non-motorized infrastructure, and the safety and security of pedestrians and cyclists. The book focuses on conventional transport network analysis and motor-vehicle dominated infrastructure decision-making and delivery in urban Africa.
