City of Seattle Health and Equity Assessment

This report assesses the health and equity of Seattle. The purpose is to quantify disparities to help guide investments and policy. Equity analysis steps included determining geographic distribution of populations of color, low income, and/or limited-English speaking populations and calculating their access to assets such as parks, libraries, schools, transit stops, and affordable housing. The report starts with a look at the demographics of Seattle. Next seven community building blocks are examined: Housing, Healthy eating and active living, Public health and preventative health, Education, Transportation, Environment, and Economic Opportunity. Each building block section includes information from community surveys and workshops, data highlighting disparities, potential obstacles to achieving equity, and priority policy recommendations.
