Regional Assessment of the Effectiveness of Road Infrastructure Projects

This article offers a new approach to assessing the effectiveness of road construction and highway improvement projects. The authors describe this approach as based on a set of strategically-oriented criteria including relevance, usefulness, integration, stimulation, and sustainability. They then verify this assessment method using eight highway construction projects and 11 regional road improvement projects in the Czech Republic. Topics discussed include regional development, allocating public resources, the impact of transportation infrastructure projects on residential areas, environmental factors, and the use of this proposed method as a tool for decision-making.
