Atlanta Gas Light Company’s Integrated System Reinforcement Program

In 2008, Atlanta Gas Light Company presented a 10-year rider program to the Georgia Public Service Commission that, once approved, allowed for the installation of large diameter pipelines in and around Metropolitan Atlanta. These pipelines are being installed to reinforce the natural gas distribution and transmission systems to guarantee that there will be abundant supply for customers on peak winter days now and in the future. With so many miles of pipelines being installed in a congested urban setting, a specialized project team was created. This team established an enhanced delivery process consisting of improved project management, land acquisition and geographic information system (GIS) as-built data collection procedures that will ensure that the pipelines are installed to safely serve customers for decades to come. In a world that demands safety, the team are convinced that their processes protect people, property and pipelines.
