Modification of a Gap Acceptance Theory Model of Roundabouts’ Capacities

The roundabout’s capacity is usually analyzed by the gap acceptance theory model. There are obvious differences between the value calculated by the model and the observed values. This study modifies the model with a parameter reflecting the change of the critical headway analyzed by multiple linear regressions, and validates the model with the data from VISSIM simulation. Compared with the classical model, the relative error of the modified model reduced by 50 percent.
