TRANSVERSE MOTION AND LATERAL FORCES OF A TWO-AXLE RAIL VEHICLE

The motion equations are derived for a two-axle rail vehicle on which oscillations are excited by the "rolling line" and "cross-level" functions. The elasticity of the track is also considered. To perform the calculation for stochastic excitations, two auto spectra and two cross spectra must be known. The test results have proved the theory to be correct. The running factor Wz and the lateral forces acting on the wheelset are calculated. The influence of the running speed, the effective tyre conicity and the gravitational stiffness are outlined.
