Water for Utah's Great Basin

Much of the Utah Lake System has been completed by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, in an ambitious effort to transport water from the eastern part of the state to the state's northern and central major population centers. In order to successfully complete these projects, design and construction challenges had to be overcome pertaining to seismic risks, landslides, cavitation control at high-head turnouts, flow and pressure control between the upper and lower delivery systems, and the need to maintain system capacities by removing accumulated material from within the pipelines. Details of the design and construction are presented here.
