Affordable Traffic Management Centre

Reduced delays at signalized intersections and improved travel times were the primary traffic engineering challenges in the past. Currently, transportation planners around the world are mainly focused on facilitating and promoting sustainable modes of transportation. This is important as these modes can help reduce congestion, improve safety and residents’ health as well as benefitting the environment. However, most cities with good transit and active transportation mode shares still experience high traffic volumes and congestion. Rather than looking to new and expanded infrastructure, optimizing traffic flow in an existing city road network through an affordable traffic management centre utilizing intelligent transportation systems can be an important tool to support sustainable mobility, reduce delays, improve safety and minimize environmental impacts.
