Made to Measure: As ADAS Solutions become More Sophisticated, So Too Must the Measurement Systems Used to Test and Validate Them

This article considers the increased complexity required of testing procedures used to validate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The author focuses on choosing the right equipment to collect the required measurements, outlining the measurement capabilities and limitations of the different types of equipment available. The author discusses two separate components – first, how the equipment takes the measurements (and how detailed it can go) and second, the processing and handling of the measurement data that has been collected. One sidebar considers how the test equipment will evolve to handle additional computational loads.
