URBAN TRAFFIC DEVELOPMENT WHICH TAKES PEOPLE INTO ACCOUNT

MENSCHENGERECHTE STADTVERKEHRSENTWICKLUNG

The interaction behaviour between the pedestrian and the vehicle in residential areas is studied as a part of a research into the traffic restraint in such areas. This interaction behaviour is essential for the contentment of the population living in such areas and in particular for their feeling safe in the traffic in their residential area. The study of this interaction can be carried out by optical data processing with photography or video-recording. In this paper the results of video-recording as regards the behaviour of pedestrians when crossing the road are discussed. /TRRL/
