Discretized Journey–Time Model of Dynamic Link

The effect on the solution of dynamic link journey time was investigated under various levels of discretization of dividing link into several segments. The outflow was given by using of the widely used model of relationship between whole link journey time and link flow in dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) models based on given inflows. Under the condition of traffic flow satisfying the rule of first in and first out (FIFO), a link was divided into a few segments, based on whole link journey time model, the discretized journey -time model and the discretized outflow model of every segment was deduced, and whose solutions were proved closely approximating the LWR solutions. Finally, Case 1 numerically compare the precision in calculation of solution of discretized journey-time model under different levels of discretization, and in Case 2 the journey time simulation method was given by use of detected traffic flow.
