Development of Cost Efficient ADAS Tool Platform for Automotive Industry

This article focuses on the outcomes and key challenges of DESERVE project. The project aims at developing a new platform for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) functions that is based on common software tools to increase interoperability between the software components and consequently reducing their development costs. The design of ADAS functions able to support and cooperate with drivers is an important issue in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) research. The ADAS design aims at enhancing the driver’s perception of hazards and critical situations, in order to reduce accidents and injuries and to improve road safety. In addition to the development of the automotive components also driver was taken into account by introducing new driver model and driver monitoring technology, in order to allow smooth transition from driver assistance to semiautomatic driving and finally to full automation.
