SITE INVESTIGATION METHOD FOR ROCK DEPOSITS

METHODE DE PROSPECTION DES GISEMENTS ROCHEUX

Details are given of site investigation techniques based on surface geophysical methods, in particular the artificial magneto-telluric method (mta) which facilitates the rapid continuous measurement of the apparent resistivity of the ground. To supplement slow and costly core-sounding operations, a rock drill hammer is used. The cross-section made with the slivers of rock brought up to the surface is defined more accurately by instantaneous logging such as drilling rate or by differed logging such as natural radioactivity, resistivity, velocity of sound, etc. Some applications are described. The quality of the materials can be evaluated by logging and by tests carried out on rock slivers. /TRRL/
