Comparison of the Shape Coefficients of Pushed Convoys Composed of Barges with Different Displacements

Usporedba koeficijenata oblika potiskivanih sastava sacinjenih od potisnica razlicitih nosivosti

It is known that during navigation the resistance of water occurs as a force that opposes the movement of ship through water. When studying the pushed convoy total resistance, due to the fact that it cannot be measured, is replaced with the thrust of propellers as an equivalent to total resistance. Shape coefficient of pushed convoys is used as a parameter that shows to what degree the total resistance of convoy is reduced in comparison to simple sum of all the resistances of individual barges within convoy. This paper will present the comparison of shape coefficients of convoys made of barges of different sizes and carrying capacities.
