The article discusses dynamic design methods for airport rigid pavements using aircraft take-off and landing loads. A single degree of freedom method of pavement design is considered, in which the aircraft load provides the mass and the soil below the pavement provides the spring force. From an acceleration response spectrum obtained in a full-scale test, it is concluded that the method can be used for the dynamic design of airport pavements. /TRRL/
