STRATIFICATION AND AIR POLLUTION

This paper discusses the latest development of Southwest Research Institutes Swirl Stratified Charge Engine and states the tests used to measure the exhaust emission of this engine. The same engine was operated as a carburetted engine at identical conditions, but the observed exhaust emission results cannot be compared to the stratified charge engine due to the unstable operation of the single cylinder otto cycle engine. The bag sampling method was applied and the exhaust samples were immediately analyzed in our vehicular emissions laboratory. /Author/
