Countdown to kick-off

In 2014, the city of Belo Horizonte in Brazil prepared for the increased congestion of the 2014 World Cup by investing in its highway and public transit system. A new transportation command center was established, featuring advanced monitoring capabilities and allowing officials and technicians to monitor congestion from the control room and react quickly. The command center was built in time for the World Cup and will also be beneficial for the anticipated increase in congestion for the 2016 Olympic Games.
