R-ENGINE COMPETING WITH DIESEL ENGINE

R-MOTORN KONKURRERAR MED DIESELN

THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES A NEW KIND OF EXPLOSION MOTOR CALLED THE R-ENGINE, DEVELOPED BY THE SWEDISH COMPANY SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER AB. THIS IS A TWO-STROKE ROTARY ENGINE WITH TWO ROTATING PISTONS GEARING INTO EACH OTHER. THE NUMBER OF ROTOR BLADES COULD BE VARIED. GAS OR DIESEL OIL OR A COMBINATION OF THE TWO COULD BE USED AS FUEL. THE EVACUATION OF EXHAUST FUMES AND THE RINSING OF THE WORKING SPACE ARE UNDERTAKEN BY A FAN. A FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM IS NECESSARY. THE EXPERIMENTAL WORK IS CONCENTRATED ON ENGINES WITH THE COMBINATION 3+5 ROTOR BLADES. AT PRESENT THE DEGREE OF EFFICIENCY ACHIEVED IS 21-23%. THE ADVANTAGES OF THE R-ENGINE ARE REVIEWED: SMALL DIMENSION, LOW WEIGHT, EVEN MOMENT CURVE. THE ENGINE COULD EASILY BE ARRANGED AS A MULTIPLE ROTOR ENGINE.
