CURRENT PROBLEMS CONCERNING TRAFFIC NOISE IN STOCKHOLM

AKTUELLA TRAFIKBULLERFRAAGOR I STOCKHOLM

THIS IS A DISCUSSION OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS REGARDING TRAFFIC NOISE LEVEL, RESPONSIBILITY FOR REDUCING TRAFFIC NOISE AND TRAFFIC NOISE PLANNING IN STOCKHOLM. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS PAID TO THE REDUCING OF TRAFFIC NOISE BY MEANS OF TRAFFIC CONTROL AND PROTECTING WALLS. A DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF SUCH ANTI-NOISE MEASURES FOR CERTAIN ROADS AND DISTRICTS. NOISE-REDUCING METHODS IN ALREADY BUILT-UP AREAS ARE DECREASED TRAFFIC FLOW, REDUCING THE HEAVY VEHICLE TRAFFIC, LOWER SPEEDS, AND REDUCING THE CAUSES FOR ACCELERATION AND RETARDATION. THE EFFECTS OF THE DIFFERENT METHODS OF REGULATION ARE REVIEWED. A NUMBER OF NEWLY CONSTRUCTED ROADS IN THE STOCKHOLM REGION WERE EQUIPPED WITH NOISE PROTECTING WALLS. THESE ARE DESCRIBED AS WELL AS MEASUREMENTS OF THEIR NOISE REDUCING PROPERTIES.
