GRAVEL STABILIZED WITH HYDRAULIC (AND POZZOLANIC) BINDERS

LES GRAVES TRAITEES AUX LIANTS HYDRAULIQUES (ET POUZZOLANIQUES).

After reviewing developments in the stability of pavement layers with hydraulic binders, the authors describe the current state of the art. Definitions are given of gravel- slag, gravel-cement, gravel-pozzolan, and gravel-flyash mixtures the general characteristics of which are outlined, specially the mechanical properties (ultimate strength, moduli, fatigue behaviour). A special study is made of the changes in strength with time in stabilized layers. The influence of various mix-design factors on the mechanical characteristics of gravel stabilized with hydraulic binders is investigated together with their effect on the behaviour of stabilized layers. New trends in the techniques of stabilization in the hydraulic binders are briefly indicated. /TRRL/
