Double the deterrent
The use of bi-directional speed cameras can reduce the costs of speed limit enforcement. The cameras are able to enforce two lanes at the same time with traffic flowing in opposite directions. They can record vehicles traveling both towards and away from them. A sensor array in the road surface detects speeding vehicles and activates the camera. This system has been installed in a number of locations around the United Kingdom and has been a success.
