FIRST STUDY OF A VIBROBORER

PREMIERE ETUDE D'UN VIBRO-SONDEUR

Experiments were conducted on a vibroborer. During the first testing peiod, the vibroborer was used for sampling several types of soils such as weathered limestone, clay, sand, and peat. Sampling speed, as well as core percent appeared to be very valuable. After that first testing period, improvements were realized; on the one hand a better autonomous working arrangement has been given to the boring machine and on the other hand the sampler has been transformed in order to reduce soil-sampler frictions. Under its new look, the vibroborer was tested for material piles sampling, with a special sampler. The tests described in this paper look promising. /TRANSLATION/
